When I was young I always thought I had the worst parent in the world but know when I look back on it I realize that I was the problem with my behavior. When I read the book the year of the hangman I realize that I have a well off life, and when I read The Outsiders I realized how important my parents where.
Johnny From the outsiders is a lot like Creighton from “The Year of the Hangman.” They have many similarities like the parents not caring about them. Creighton’s mom sent him to the Americas because she was depressed and was still mourning from her husband’s death. Johnny’s parents don’t even care about him they wish he doesn’t exist, so Johnny and Creighton both have parent problems. Since they have parent problems they have to go by themselves.
Creighton and Johnny has to go on by themselves because of without your parents caring about you, you can’t live like a normal kid. Johnny’s parents are not caring about him because they don’t want him in their lives. Creighton’s point of view of his parents is that if you are a kid that misbehaves they will send you away to another place that you don’t know. Now everyday Creighton has to fend for his life in a place that people look like they want to kill him because of his facial expression.
Although Johnny and Creighton have parent problems they are both different from each other because Johnny has a support system of friends and Creighton does not. Johnny has chances to live with other people and during the day Johnny can go to Pony Boy’s house and stay away from his parents. On the other hand Creighton has to deal with being alone because his uncle has been captured, by the Americans and is put in jail and the only thing that Creighton has is some money and a tree to curl up next to.
Parents may ruin your life or make it the best time ever. If you are like me your life could be great but if you were in Johnny's or Creighton's shoes you may have a struggle everyday of your life.
